The experience

Bibione, one of the first beaches on the Adriatic, with a 14-km-long coastline, was already in the late 1970s-early 1980s one of the first Italian beaches to promote windsurfing.
Initially, foreign tourists, particularly from Germany, began to take up the new sport, but today there are also many Italian families who take up windsurfing. This sport can be played not only by children (even very young children) but also by older children, such as fathers, mothers, and sometimes even grandparents!
Over the years several schools have promoted this activity, and today there are five pioneer schools in this field, distributed along the coast and members of the VDWS, a well-known association of windsurfing and water sports schools internationally and qualified instructors-a guarantee of professionalism.
Thanks to them, windsurfing is expanding in Bibione and improving both in terms of the material available (lighter and more comfortable sails) and from a technical and educational point of view, offering lessons for all ages and levels.
Bibione’s coastline faces south, so the breezes, which rotate clockwise from east to west and always blow side-on-shore from the sea, guarantee surfing for those who practice the sport. This means safety, thanks in part to the schools’ instructors and qualified rescue people.
Bibione has many wonderful days with strong winds and waves, bora from Trieste or sirocco from the sea, with sometimes difficult conditions for experienced surfers.
